Hello there again Michael here.
Linda was released Monday evening after a full day of me running around preparing the house by rearranging furniture and awaiting the arrival of a hospital type bed. The top of our bed is a full 35 inches off the ground which given Linda's condition would have been at least very difficult to get in and out of.
Any way then came the mad scramble down to the hospital , getting the scripts filled , gathering up the belongings getting her in the car and then the drive home. Linda did well and after gingerly getting her in the house we managed to get her in the bed which was way to soft and supplied little back support.
I fixed her dinner which she ate a little of gave her some meds and then watched a little Tv. She was up a few times to use the bathroom during the night but again I am very surprised and pleased to see how mobile she is at this stage. Thank goodness we had the foresight to install a right height toilet when we redid the bathroom.
Tuesday was another blur. Linda up early and out of the bed to sit in the living room. We made calls to see if something could be done with regards to the bed and still haven't heard. Meanwhile I retrieved one of the mattresses for a day bed we have from the attic and put that on the hospital bed. Much better but it is not as flexible when raising the head or foot of the bed .
Linda showered and felt much better and then the TV repair guy showed up . As I expected , in spite of us clearly defining the problem and what they would need they showed up with no parts and will have to return hopefully next week .
Then came the home nurse for the initial interview which went well however I felt like I was on inspection she checked the house for hazards and asked a lot of questions. I appreciated her detail but still felt like we were on trial.
The day got to be a bit much for Linda and I was able to get her in to bed for a nap but her discomfort level was a bit high so we have been gradually increasing the meds. We had been being very conservative and maybe just a bit to conservative. She had a good night last night although once again up a few times for trips to the bathroom. This morning she awoke in good spirits with a minimum of discomfort. She had her coffee and took some meds and is sitting in the Living Room watching TV although I think she has fallen asleep.
Today should be quiet and I think between the events of Monday and Tuesday she needs the rest. I think Linda will be posting in the next day or two but for now she says she doesn't feel up to it.
Thanks again for caring and we wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

ReplyDeleteHi Linda,
ReplyDeleteLaura and I are thinking about you and hoping you're feeling better and better every day! We're still in PeeCola at Laura's mom's house. We're returning to The Windy City this afternoon...hoping our flight won't be delayed too long if at all. love and Hugs, DD
Blimey, I really feel for the both of you.
ReplyDeleteI hope something can be done about that silly bed. It doesn't sound as if it could possibly meet your Linda's comfort and recovery needs.
Erm, anyway, you are doing the best that anyone could hope for. Fingers crossed that it will get easier from now on.
